Chapter 8

Day Day

Day was sitting in the living room of his house waiting for Jasmine to get back home. When he awoke this morning, she was nowhere to be found. Day had called her phone a few times and she sent it straight to voice mail. He knew that Jasmine was doing something sneaky, but the thought of her being with another man never crossed his mind. Jasmine wasn’t that kind of girl.

Jasmine scrolled inside the house an hour later. Day had fallen asleep on the couch waiting for her. Jasmine looked at Day sleeping so peacefully and smiled. She did have a lot of love for Day, but he wasn’t E. Jasmine wanted to love him the way that he deserved to be love but Day was stubborn as hell. Things always had to be done his way or no way. They had their first argument a few weeks ago about her disappearing acts. She knew that she had to fall back from E then because Day was growing suspicious of the stories she was telling him to cover her trail.

Jasmine tossed her coat onto the couch and took her shoes off. She had even begin to dress more feminine. She hadn’t picked up a gun in a few weeks and it felt damn good to believe that part of her life was over. She tip toed passed Day, not wanting to wake him and headed for her bedroom. She wanted to go back home after being turned down from E. They were staying in a rental home until they were ready to head back out of town. She was going to mention it to Day that it was time to leave NY. This would give her more time away from E and she hoped that her feelings for him would soon die.

“Where have you been?” Day startled Jasmine as he walked up behind her.

“Why you sneaking up on me? I was out.” Jasmine riposte.

“Listen, don’t give me no fucking attitude. Your ass been getting up early and disappearing without saying a word to me. What the fuck is going on with you Jazz.” Day could feel his anger rising. He wanted answers.

“Day, it’s not my fault that all you do is sleep. I have shit to do and I don’t have to tell you everything.” Jasmine said with authority.

“Calm your ass down and stop talking to me like that. You’re my wife and I need to know where you are at all times. If something happen to you out in the streets Jasmine, how am I supposed to know where to find your ass at? Now you can go and do what you need to do; but if I call your phone, then you need to be answering it to let me know that you’re good. Is that too much to ask?” Day asked her.

“No. I’m sorry. I’m ready to go back home. I’m tired of NY.” Jasmine sat down on the bed and looked up at Day. She could see the concern in his face.
